Five Ways To Exericse When You Don’t Have Time
We all have days–weeks and months sometimes!–when we don’t have the time to exercise. A trip to the gym is absolutely out of the question and it is always hard to exercise at home with little ones running around. Here are a few ways to pick up your heart beat when you can’t get fit in a “formal” exercise routine.
1. Turn it up! Turn up the music, vacuum, dust, garden … do your housework double time while listening to your favorite tunes.
2. Use the stairs! Do squats and lunges while advancing up the stairs every time you run up or down — you’re sure to be sore by the end of the day!
3. Go for a bike ride with the family … or a walk, or a run. Make exercise fit in with your kids. Sure, you won’t be exercising a hard as you may have been if you were on your own but any movement is better than none.
4. I routinely walk during my older son’s baseball practice. It is two hours long, I grab a couple girl friends and we walk for an hour. We catch up on each other, get some exercise and it fits in to busy life!
5. Have sex! An increase in heart rate is what we’re after here — and sex sounds about as good as any! Sex actually has a multitude of health benefits like — increased cardiovascular health, calorie expenditure, increased self esteem and an increased immune system! Sounds like as good a reason as any to turn out the lights!
